As many of you know, I released my newest book, Unveiling the Dark Side: Exploring Sexism, Racism, Classism, and Beyond in The Paranormal, a few weeks ago. It has been about 4 years of writing, rewriting, gathering stories, and meeting people. It was also a tough story for me to write. I was reopening wounds I had thought were long healed.
I had taken a break from writing for a bit because I was finding my writing was coming from a dark side of my own, a place of anger and hate. I needed to refocus that energy, allow it to heal, and come back with a renewed sense of why I was writing. I wanted to share these stories. very real stories of bias, judgment, prejudice, and hate that others have gone through in the field. I also wanted to share my personal stories of the things I had gone through.
While writing did add to a level of healing, it also reopened those wounds that my story gave me. I have found the last few months I have struggled, making connections and trusting people in the community again. It took me 4 or 5 years to get to a place where I was reaching out and working with others. Lately, that has been a difficult thing. Slowly I am sure it will come back to me.
So if you see me out and about come say hi and let’s chat a bit. Ghost Hunting and the paranormal are some of my favorite things and I am always looking to connect with others.
